Dotting
Dotting Lesson:
For this lesson, we worked with paint using the dotting technique. We talked about warm and cool colors and different ways we can use dotting in our artwork. We were to sketch out the animal cutout we picked and plan how we wanted to dot around it. From there we followed step-by-step instructions on how to cut a brown bag so it was flat and we could paint on it. Finally, we glued down our animal and could begin dotting around it with paint. My goal for the dotting was to create a gradient effect.
Extension Activity:
For an extension activity, I would have my students focusing on a specific part of the world. For the lesson, they focused on Australia, so I could use the same area. We would talk about the food, animals, people, environments etc. While we were talking about the environment, I would use this art project and have the students create the environment that their animal lives in. The students would still be required to use the dotting technique to create their background.
