Painting Lesson

Painting Lesson: Wassily Kandinsky

Lesson:
Students had to complete a pre-assessment on geometric and organic shapes as well as patterns. The teachers explained the story you would normally read to the students about Wassily Kandinsky. We then had to draw 3 geometric and 3 organic shapes on a piece of white paper, then we had to draw a line dividing the paper. On 2 of the sections, we had to draw a pattern. Then, we listened to music and had to pick a water color that felt like the song for each section.

Extension Activity:
Have the students write down what song goes with at least 3 of the colors. This way they can explain why they felt that specific color feels like a certain song. I would have them write down sentences that would explain their feelings then have them share with a partner. I would also ask if anyone would like to share with the entire class.
