3D Design

 Traditional African Masks Lesson:

For this lesson, we did a PowerPoint presentation on traditional African masks. We talked about symmetry, geometrical shapes, and patterns. Everyone had to create a 3D mask that had multiple 3D elements on it and a unique design. They also had to fill out a notecard with 2 facts about traditional African masks, their name, and name their mask.

Extension Activity:

An extension activity would be to have the students write a story about their mask. Once they have created their animal, human, or spirit mask they can tell us more about the background of their mask. They could also write about when they would wear their mask and what they would use it for.
