The Dot
Lesson:
We listened to the book, The Dot, by Peter Reynolds and had to create our own dot. We were given a coffee filter and we required to use a minimum of 3 different mediums on the coffee filter to create our dot (oil pastels, crayons, markers, water color paint, etc.). Then, we brushed water over the different mediums to uncover our designs and see what ones blended or resisted.
Extension Activity:
I would have my students display their artwork around the room. Then, I would give each student a sheet with everyone's name on it. The class will then walk around looking at their peer's artwork and try to figure out what mediums were used on the dot. This will help their understanding of the different materials.
